Pace Project
Support in Every Step
 Our Mission-

The Pace Project exists to prevent the stigma surrounding trauma, mental health challenges, poverty, and substance use disorder by reaching young people early. We empower adolescents with education, support, and compassionate community resources that foster resilience, understanding, and hope—before stigma becomes a barrier to healing.

The School-Based Substance Use Disorder Education & Prevention pillar delivers early, honest, and developmentally appropriate substance use prevention education to adolescents before substance use patterns form. The program replaces fear-based messaging with science-informed education, coping skills, and decision-making tools that empower youth to make healthy choices. The Pace Project is a trusted prevention partner for schools, families, and communities, while integrating seamlessly with the organization’s mental health mentoring and trauma-informed support services.

Substance use frequently begins during adolescence, yet prevention efforts are often:
•Introduced too late
•Inconsistent across schools and districts
•Focused on punishment or fear rather than understanding and skills

Youth experiencing trauma, poverty, or untreated mental health challenges are at significantly higher risk for early substance experimentation. Without early, stigma-free education, experimentation can progress into substance use disorder, academic failure, and long-term instability.

Program Goal & Objectives:
Prevent substance use disorder by equipping adolescents with knowledge, coping strategies, and support before substance exposure escalates.

Objectives:
•Deliver age-appropriate SUD education to middle and high school students
•Increase understanding of brain development and substance effects
•Build refusal skills, stress management, and healthy coping alternatives
•Engage caregivers and educators in prevention conversations
•Reduce stigma surrounding substance use and help-seeking

Our Vision

We envision a future where every young person grows up in a community that understands trauma, values mental wellness, and responds to hardship with empathy instead of judgment. Pace Project strives to create a world where adolescents are equipped to navigate life’s challenges without shame, cycles of poverty are interrupted early, and seeking help is seen as a strength.

Dedicated to community health, we offer mental health resources, after-school activities, and free classes for children affected by trauma, mental health, substance use disorder, and poverty. Our goal is to create safe spaces where individuals feel supported in their development journey.
